Candles Exposed! At Makin' Perfect Scents, we add scent to the entire candle - so we are able to guarantee that your candle will smell the same from start to finish. Most candle companies use scent in the topping off process - meaning, you are only getting a small amount of scented wax in the top of your candle, the rest is just colored wax. Oil-to-Wax Ratio The higher the percentage of fragrance oil, the stronger the candle scent is. In most candles, the oil-to-wax ratio is 6%. At Makin' Perfect Scents, our oil-to-wax ratio is nearly 10%. This ensures your candle will have a wonderful scent that fills up your entire house. Average Candle Burn Time Our 16 oz candles average a burn time of 130-150 hours. Our 10 oz candles average a burn time of 60-80 hours (Burn time calculated with proper candle maintenance) Candle Memory The very first time you light your candle, it needs to liquefy all the way to the edge of the container. Candles have a memory and they tend to burn the same each time. When you light a candle for the first time, allow a small melt pool to form (the little circle with liquid wax in it) and extinguish the candle. You have created a "soft spot" that your candle will remember next time you light it. Remember, 1 hour for each diameter of the jar. Candle Burning Tips: 1.) Always read the warning labels. 2.) Never leave a candle burning unattended. 3.) Always keep the wick trimmed to 1/4" to eliminate smoking. 4.) Keep candles out of drafts - they cause candle flames to flicker, and smoke is released when the flame is disturbed. |
